Saw this last weekend in the parking lot of a big burger chain while getting gas at the station in the background. First one I’ve ever seen in person. Had this been a Skyline, I probably wouldn’t have bothered, but this is an absolute first for me.
Some impressions:
Boy, that thing is wide. I never really saw that in the pictures but in real life you can see where that platform came from.
Also, that little bump in front of the indicator is weird. Looks like it houses a retractable rod to help park the car, similar to what older S-classes had in the back.
The interiour (sorry, I was in a hurry and forgot to take a pic) isn’t much to write home about. Sure, it’s a right hooker but that’s about it. If you’ve sat in any ‘90s Nissan you know what I’m talking about. The familiar black plastic is everywhere and the seats have one of the most terrible patterns known to mankind.
I looked up “JDM Lübeck” (sticker on front bumper) in hopes to find more crazy JDM goodness, but only found a semi-abandoned facebook page indicating that they meet sometimes.
The 04/10 on the plates says that it only gets driven between april and october.

I would love to have one of these stateside, such a great car, and no one would suspect it to rip their face off.

Get the full (legal) tint and/or put one of those HOV lane cheater dummies in the passenger seat. When they see a single person driving from the “passenger seat” they might suspect something.

I’ve never seen one here in the US. That is a real wagon - the corners are pushed out to the limit, so the interior space must be great. I’m guessing (without googling) that this thing has an engine/gearbox that’s at least related to the Skyline’s given that you mentioned it.

It’s basically a Skyline R34 with a wagon body. A common mod is to put the Skyline front clip on it.

It’s more R33 than R34, but I’m not complaining.

Ah, thanks! I can tell R33/34s apart by their looks but I’m not too well versed on the slight differences in their greasy bits. New TG did a buyers’ guide on the R32/33/34 in their first season when they still had the fat guy as a used car expert instead of Cpt. Slow, so that’s pretty much all the info I memorized ages ago.

Just knowing this car exists makes me smile. Ordinarily I do nothing to a car, keep it stock, but I’d totally do the front clip transplant. Or you could leave it - then it’s a total sleeper.
Are they 25 years old yet? It would be loads of fun to dust a 5 series or a Challenger with a wagon. Oh to have a LHD example in my non-existent driveway.

Wiki says you have to be patient. Or move to Maple syrup land.

Oh, and it’s more R33 than R34, my bad! Also, RHD only :(

Can’t move - both our jobs are here. And, sadly, can’t do RHD. Drove a RHD E-Type on a MD road in my 20s, and it took every bit of concentration I had. At this point, that ability is not on the table.
